A
big warm welcome to those who have reached my Family History site.
I have cast the net (pardon the pun) to distant relatives across
the internet world and have been delighted hearing from distant
cousins in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US. If you are
only just starting, I have put together some useful information
on my links page.
Dedicated
to our branch of North Devon Hellyer's, there are some 600 names
in the branches of this tree which include the following surnames:
BOND, BUCKINGHAM, BULLEID, CORY, COWLE, DAVIE, GRILLS, HELLYER,
HUNT, LEACH, KEMP, MILDON, MILLMAN, MOLLAND, PARTRIDGE, PEIRCE,
PICKARD, PRIME, PULLEN, RATTENBURY, RICK, ROWCKES, SNELL, STEVENS,
STONEMAN, SUGGE, TAPP, VICARY, VOYSEY, WILLIAMS, WILSON, ZEALE
Finding direct ancestry back to 1700's has been relatively easy.
Most of our ancestors lived in North Devon and many still do to
this day. The earliest 'Hellyer' found in Winkleigh, North Devon,
is a Reginald le Helyere 1333. The nearest to this is a George Hellyer
married 1585 to a Wilmot Rowckes in Coldridge, North Devon.
I trust visitors to this site have as much enjoyment viewing it
as I have had putting it together. Please feel free to email me.
I welcome your comments and any additional information you may have.
